Nicholas Barnes Obituary

Nicholas Lee Barnes, 42, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at his home.
Nick was born on Aug. 27, 1980, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to the late Bryan Barnes and Mary Ann Allen. Nick lived most of his life in Poplar Bluff, where he was raised by his mother and stepfather Clark Allen, whom Nick called and considered his “Dad.”
Nick grew up attending First Baptist Church, Poplar Bluff, where he accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized at the age of 9. As a young adult, he attended Black River Technical College, where he trained in Emergency Medical Services. He worked for several years as an EMT serving Northeast Arkansas.  After returning to Poplar Bluff, he attended Westside Church.  Recently settling in Caruthersville for new employment, he became an active member of the First Methodist Church, Hayti, where he served on their audio and visual team during worship services until his death.
Nick is the father of two children, Hailey and Peyton Barnes of Pocahontas, Arkansas. Nick’s best days were spent with his kids, and their welfare was his utmost concern.
In addition to his birth father, Nick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Maxine Barnes, Clifford and Wanda Allen, and his maternal grandfather Herbert Henley.
In addition to his parents and children, Nick’s memory will be cherished by his brother Cole Allen (Ashley), his sister Hope Hillis (Tyler), nephews Connor Allen and Cade, Joe and Grant Hillis, and maternal grandmother Paris Henley. Nick will be remembered and loved always by his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at Westside Church, 2807 Channon Drive, Poplar Bluff.  Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Haven House, United Gospel Rescue Mission, or the Diabetes Assistance Fund at Butler County Health Department.
