Lonny Lee Thiele, 78, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday April 12, 2022 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff. He was born March 20, 1944 in Kirksville, MO to the late Carl Junior, and Emily (Manlove) Thiele.
Lonny married Pauline Evans July 20, 2002, she survives.
Lonny served his country in the Army in Vietnam. He was a journalist for the Daily American Republic. He was a member of the ODD Fellows. He enjoyed riding horses and mules. He loved going on wagon train trips, line dancing, reading and history, and playing tennis. He especially loved his grandchildren.
Besides his wife Pauline, Lonny is survived by four daughters: Megan Strong, of Santa Cruz, CA, Sheila Thiele, of Los Angeles, CA, and Amanda Fitzwater and Marsha McKuin, both of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Carolyn Henry, of Yakima, WA; five grandchildren: Madison Fitzwater, Kendall Fitzwater, David McKuin, Solh Strong, and Ruger Fitzwater.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 15th, 2022 at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel. Service will follow directly after at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Military Honors. The Reverend Vernon Curry will officiate.
