Judy Yevone (Shaver) Cummings

Judy Yevone (Shaver) Cummings passed away peacefully, in Poplar Bluff, MO, at the age of 80 years.

Judy is survived by her 3 children, Christy Reid (Bill), Dr. Kimberly Wiseman (Greg), Marc Cummings (Kara); 8 grandchildren, Specialist Joseph Reid, Benjamin, and Timothy Reid, Emily, Alex, and Elleanna Wiseman, and Coleman and Stella Cummings; siblings, Betty Sturm (Don), Frances Martray (Don), and Virginia Defoor. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Cummings, her mother and father Stella and Cecil Shaver, and her 2 brothers, Bill and Bob Shaver.

Born on August 6, 1940, Judy Yevone Shaver grew up in Muskogee, OK. Judy eventually started an exciting career as a flight attendant with American Airlines.  She was part of their first jet class. She enjoyed everything about flying, which sparked her deep love of travel. While stationed in Dallas, TX, she met her beloved husband of 50 years, Ron Cummings. In 1974, Ron and Judy, along with their young children, settled in Poplar Bluff, MO. Shortly after arriving, Ron Cummings Real Estate was born.  

In addition to always having a bag packed, ready to travel, Judy loved the beach, enjoyed water and alpine skiing, socializing with her friends, going to the horse races with Ron, and visiting and laughing with her sisters. She was a deeply devoted and loving mother. As an accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed making beautiful dresses and clothing for her children. She also learned sign language to communicate with her deaf-blind daughter, Christy, and later with her deaf-blind grandson, Ben. Judy was an equally devoted “Gammy” and very proud of her grandchildren.  She loved attending and supporting their extracurricular activities, and never turned down a moment to spend time with them. She was an active member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church.   

All who loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, and grace.

Graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday November 25th 2020 at 3:00 in the Cummings graveyard located in Van Buren, Mo. Flowers can be sent to the McSpadden Funeral home, 160 Ash, Van Buren Mo 63965.
