Gloria Jane (Warfield) Carter

Gloria Jane (Warfield) Carter, 72, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Jane was born Sept. 20, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Jesse Warfield and Estella (Patterson) Warfield. She married Keith Carter May 23, 1981.

Jane was a long-time resident of Poplar Bluff and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was also a wonderful cook, enjoyed gardening, and made preservatives. She loved to read her Bible every day. Jane wasn’t afraid of hard work. She and Keith built the log cabin they lived in side by side. She was an LPN for many years.  

Jane was honest and loyal. She was a wonderful blessing and friend to many, especially her husband, Keith. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.  

Jane is survived by her husband, Keith Obie Carter; one brother, Jesse (Alene) Warfield; one sister, Marian (Richard) Joachim; dear friends, Jan Poertner and Katrina Mulcahy; dear friends, David and Rachael Houghton and their six children, Dalton, Jayci, Isabel, Estella Jane, Connor, and Abbie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jesse and Estella Warfield; and one sister, Gayla (Warfield) Christenson. A host of family and friends also survive. 

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Sean Butler officiating. 

The family has asked for donations to be made to a Veterans Group or Animal Shelter in honor of Gloria Jane Carter. 

The family has asked everyone coming to the funeral visitation and service to come casual.
