Bluff, Mo. Mr. Welker was born in Poyner, Mo. August 25, 1919. He was a longtime resident of Poplar Bluff and a member of the First Christian Church. Mr. Welker was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during World War II. He received a Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon and 1 Bronze Star. He had been an employee of the John J. Pershing V.A. Hospital as a nurse's aide. Mr. Welker is survived by two sons, Hirthel Welker of Tucamcari, New Mexico, Thomas L. Welker of Checotah, Ok.; one daughter, H. Jean McElwee of Kirkwood, Mo.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
