Syreda Barwick

Syreda Witte Barwick, 70, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2026, at Swift Creek Residential Care in Poplar Bluff.

Syreda, the daughter of the late Hardin and Ila Witte was born on May 13, 1955, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was a caring and dedicated member of the First Methodist Church where she was an organist and member of the choir. She was a retired elementary school teacher for the Poplar Bluff School system. She completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Southeast Missouri State University. She was a past member of the bord of The First Christian Church day care center and a member of P.E.O; chapter MF. On April 12, 1980, Syreda married Brad Barwick.

Syreda is survived by her husband, Brad Barwick of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Brian (Gretchen) Barwick of St. Louis, and Even Barwick of Poplar Bluff; one granddaughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Barwick; and one niece, Whitney (Aaron) Wyble of Little Rock. A host of family and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at First United Methodist Church at 500 N. Main Street, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Gregory officiating. Interment will follow funeral service at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all funeral arrangements.
