Paul Frederick Smith, 82, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri with his loving family by his side.

He was born on September 22, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Burren Frederick Smith and Frances Lillian (Thies) Smith. On June 26, 1965 Paul married Doris Clackler, in Lucy, Tennessee.

Paul was a long-time resident of Poplar Bluff. He enjoyed going fly fishing and turkey hunting. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force, and was a Vietnam Veteran. Paul especially loved spending time with his family.

Paul is survived by loving wife, Doris Smith; three sons, Paul Brian (Chris) Smith, Daniel Alan Smith, and Christopher Scott Smith; one brother, Charles Edward Smith; two grandchildren, Emma Olivia Smith, and Dalton Lee-Allen Smith; and three great grandchildren, Serenity Smith, Hazel Smith, and Jackson Smith. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Burren and Frances Smith; one brother, George Allen Smith; and one sister, Sharon Gingery. A host of family and friends survive.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 with full military honors at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, Missouri 63825. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all arrangements.
