Kris Chester Wilfong, 74, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

He was born on May 18, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Stanley Francis Wilfong and Mary Louise (Runner) Wilfong. On July 16, 1988 in Pharr, Texas, Kris married Norma Ruth Peña.

Kris proudly served in the United States Airforce. In his retirement, Kris loved listening to music, working in his garden, spending time with his family, and learning new things, even in his last days. He was also a lifelong lover of animals, and enjoyed keeping a menagerie of pets at home and at the family pet store, The Fish Tank, in Ellington, Missouri.

Kris is survived by his loving wife, Norma Ruth Wilfong; two sons, Joaquin Eduviges Wilfong, and Julian Stanley Wilfong; two daughters, Jennette Marie (Jordan Thurman) Wilfong, and Jaclyn Kris (Brandon Aldrich) Wilfong; and one sister, Diana (Juan) Lopez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mary Wilfong; and one sister, Catherine Wilfong. A host of family and friends survive.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home at 366 College Street, Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all arrangements.
