Joyce Sue Conner

Joyce Sue Conner, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 18, 1947, in Neelyville, Missouri to Lawrence R. Leonard and Martha J. (Newingham) Leonard. On June 4, 1966 Joyce married the love of her life Hubert “Ray” Conner.

Joyce was a life-long resident of Poplar Bluff. She loved to read, studying her bible, but above all she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Ray Conner; two sons, Douglas Ray (Juanita) Conner, and Danny Wayne (Melissa) Conner; one brother, Lawrence (Kay) Leonard; one sister Alice Jean (Bill) Friday; six grandchildren, Jaclyn Conner, Sarah (Kenny) Collins, Aryn Conner, Owen Conner, Courtney Woodruff, and Nathaiel Woodruff; and six great grandchildren, Austin, Ashlynn, Aria, Kaylin, Korben, and Kinzley. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Martha Leonard; one sister, Viola Fern Jones; and one grandson, Hurbert Allen Conner. A host of family and friends survive.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on, September 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Darryl Friday officiating in Black Creek Cemetery. Fitch- Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all funeral arrangements.
