Jimmie Joe Lawson

Jimmie Joe Lawson, 57, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 02, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 23, 1968, to Billy Jo Lawson and Cynthia (Lyons) Lawson. On April 28, 2001, he married his best friend and love of his life, Holly Hafner.

He was of the Christian faith, and a long-time resident of Poplar Bluff. Jimmie enjoyed working on cars, going fishing, kayaking, collecting guns and old-time safety razors. He loved spending time with his friends, laughing and joking around. His love and care for others was something important to him. Jimmie was very proud of his family, especially his wonderful children.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Holly Lawson; one son, Jacob Lawson; one daughter, Gracie Jo “Beeg” Lawson; his mother and stepfather, Cynthia Strader and Bruce Richter; two sisters, Kelly (Glenn) Adcock, and Holly (Mike) Gibson; one stepbrother, Ron Pickard; his fishing buddy, Doug (Tara) Maple; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Billy Jo Lawson; his stepmother, Glenda Lawson, grandparents; Dorothy and Russell “Tobe” Whitener, Geneva and Donald Lawson, and Tom and Nadine Ballew. A host of family and friends survive.

Visitation will be held on at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 06, 2025, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will start at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Hockersmith officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all arrangements.
