James (Jim) Lanard McDowell

James Lanard McDowell, 77, of Wappapello, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

He was born December 12, 1947, in Quincy, Illinois, to James McDowell and Lois (Kurfman) McDowell.

Jim was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed playing cards especially pitch, and laughing and joking with his friends. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his son, Jimmie (Sandy) McDowell of Vermont, Illinois; one brother, Ross (Terri) McDowell; one sister, Suzi Baxter of Wappapello; one grandchild, James D. McDowell; and two great grandchildren, Harper McDowell, and Emma McDowell. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lois McDowell; and three brothers, Gary McDowell, Larry McDowell, and Danny McDowell. A host of family and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Fitch- Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with all funeral arrangements
