Ethel Nixon

Ethel Nixon, 96, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died April 29, 2015, at Westwood Hills Health Care Center. She was born April 9, 1919 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to the late H.O. Montgomery and Ethel Porter Montgomery. She was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff. Ethel was a member of the New Home General Baptist Church. She married Jason Nixon in Hernando, MS. June 27, 1953. He preceded her in death January 25, 2002. Ethel was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and volunteer work at nursing homes. She is survived by two sons, Charles Dorsett (Sherry) of Poplar Bluff and Larry Nixon of Calif.: two daughters, Neva Nixon of St. Louis, Mo. and Linda (Vernon) James of Calif.; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be Friday at 10 AM in the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM. The Rev. Calvin Bulher will officiate. Burial will be at Montgomery Sheppard Cemetery.
