Reva Arnold
  Reva E. Arnold, 88, of Poplar Bluff entered into rest on Monday, Dec 22, 2008 at the Mark Twain
Caring Center.
  Mrs. Arnold was born on April 1, 1920 in Bollinger County. She moved to Poplar Bluff in 1954 and
was a retired restaurant employee.  Her hobby was flowers.
  Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church where she served on the Alter Guild
and was president of the St. Margaret’s Guild for many years. She established the Holy Cross food
pantry and served as the director for the past eight years. She was instrumental in starting the church’s
annual Eugene Field School fund raiser with proceeds providing needed school supplies for the second
grade. Mrs. Arnold coordinated many dinners and special events for the church including the annual
Lenten services with other area churches.
  Survivors include one daughter, Martha Braden and husband, Harold, of Poplar Bluff.
   Dorothy Elizabeth Durbin, 82, of Poplar Bluff entered into rest on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 at the Poplar
Bluff Regional Medical Center.    
   Mrs. Durbin was born on Oct. 28, 1926 in Mt. Pleasant, Tenn. and was of the Baptist faith.  She was a
homemaker and enjoyed gardening.
   On Nov. 30, 1955 she married Edward Durbin, Sr. in Salem, Ark.  He preceded her in death in 1991.
   Also preceding her in death are her parents, John H. and Francis H. (Jennette) Atkisson; two sisters,
Helen V. Stephens and Catherine Atkisson; one brother, Richard W. Atkisson and three grandchildren.
   Survivors include, four sons, Edward Durbin, Jr. of Springfield, John Durbin and wife, Cynthia, Robert
Durbin and wife, Lisa, and Timothy Durbin I, all of Poplar Bluff; three daughters, Mary Woods and
husband, Jerry, Pamela Losh and husband, Eddie and Wanda Durbin, all of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Joe
Atkisson of Festus and Winston Atkisson of Columbia; one sister, Johnie Robinson of Port Huron, Mich.;
18 grandchildren, Jordan Lorah, Dwan Lippoldt and husband, Boyd, Darrell Dugger and wife, Carrie,
David Woods, Heather Durbin, Jessica Durbin, Benjamin Durbin, Rebecca Durbin, Michelle Durbin, Angie  
Durbin, David Durbin, Katie Durbin, Dustin Durbin, Lisa Durbin, Lela Durbin, Timothy Durbin II and
Averi Durbin all of Poplar Bluff and Lena Sturm and husband, Billy of Scott City and six great
grandchildren, Trenton, Kaitlyn and Kyle Lippoldt, Gracie and Gavin Dugger, all of Poplar Bluff and Casey
Sturm of Scott City.
Allan Roth
 Allan L. Roth, 54, of Williamsville entered into rest on December 15, 2008 at his residence.
 Mr. Roth was born on February 24, 1954 in St. Louis.  He moved to Williamsville in 2006 from Florida and was self
employed.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and his flea market.
 On January 16, 1982 he married Robin Peterson in New Smyrna, Florida.  She survives.
 Also surviving are one son, Bryan Roth of Edgewater, Florida; one brother, Richard Roth of New Smyrna and one sister,
Susan Morgan of South Carolina.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Roth.
Kitty Cossaboom
      Kitty Easter Ballance Cossaboom passed away peacefully on December 12, 2008 at a local nursing care facility.  Kitty
was born April 19, 1930 in Russellville, Alabama; the sixth of thirteen children.  As a young child the family moved to Poplar
Bluff, Missouri.  Kitty grew up there and stayed until her early twenties when she moved to Virginia.  During her time there
she raised two children while working full time.  By the early 1970’s Kitty decided to move to North Carolina where she met
and married the love of her life, Norman Cossaboom.  They were married for 10 years before his death in 1989.  In 1993, she
moved to Signal Mountain, TN to be near her children and grandchildren.  
      She was a woman of many talents including building brick walls to flower arranging and needlework.  She was an
excellent cook and baker and loved to feed people.  Her grandchildren have fond memories of helping in the garden, gathering
and eating the vegetables she grew.  Animals loved her and she loved them, especially dogs.  
      Kitty was preceded in death by her first husband, Ira Lee England, Jr., her last husband, Norman Cossaboom and her
parents, Clifford and Myrtle Ballance.
      She is survived by her son, David (Stephanie) England and her daughter, Linda (Leigh) Ferguson and their four children,
Heather (Mark) Maharrey, Tamra Ferguson, Elisabeth Jordan and Joseph Ferguson.  She is also survived by her great-
grandchildren, Emily Ferguson, Aidan and Wyatt Maharrey and Gavin Jordan.  She leaves behind seven siblings, Bertha
(Robert) Armstrong, Elmer (Jeanette) Ballance, Orville (Eva) Ballance, Thomas (Aki) Ballance, Marie (Kenneth) Wright, Dolly
(Gary) Howard, John (Donna) Ballance, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  
      The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Staff at Life Care of Collegedale and Amedysis Hospice
Services for their dedication in Kitty’s care.
   Gregory L. McNece, 51, a long time resident of Poplar Bluff entered into rest on Friday, December
26, 2008 at the Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
   Mr. McNece was born on January 17, 1957 in Fort Huachuca, Arizona and was a member of the 1st
Christian Church. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1975 and loved to ride motorcycles.
He enjoyed boating and watersports.
   Survivors include his mother, Gail Doss of Poplar Bluff and one sister, Charlotte L. McNece of
Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Gregory McNece
Elmer Pete Nored
   Elmer Pete Nored, 70, of Poplar Bluff entered into on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at The Cedargate.
  Mr. Nored was born on Feb. 2, 1938 in Qulin and was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff.  He worked at a gas station and
enjoyed fishing and hunting.
  Survivors include one brother, Joe Nored of St. Peters.

 Ivan Pierce, 83, of Poplar Bluff died on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008
at The Cedargate.
 Mr. Pierce was born on July 21, 1925 in Broseley and was a
lifetime resident of Butler County.  He was a row crop farmer and a
veteran of the US Army having served in WWII.
 Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Sue Brown of Poplar Bluff;
two brothers, Charles Pierce of Broseley and Kenneth Pierce of
Cottonwood; three sisters, Peggy Deam and Barbara Guess, both of
Poplar Bluff and Maxine Chilton of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren
and 4 great grandchildren.

Leona Morse, 97, of Poplar Bluff entered into rest on Dec. 29, 2008 at the Riverway Manor in Van
Buren.   
Mrs. Morse was born on May 22, 1911 in Poplar Bluff and was a lifetime resident of Butler County.
 She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking for her
family.
 In 1933 she married Roy Morse in Poplar Bluff.  He preceded her in death in 1957.
 She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Molly (Humphy) Gean and one daughter,
Ruby Waddell.
 Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Richardson, Lillian Dover and Emilee Dover, all of Poplar
Bluff and Marie Copper of Ellisnore; 24 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 18 great-great
grandchildren.
